A Pig at City Hall

Check out Charity the Pig, who attended our press conference last week to protest the hog developers still feeding out of the city trough for the Domain, in the midst of the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.  When will the city and big boy developers get a clue?  Perhaps not until November 4th.  Call us for yard signs and door hangers for your neighborhood!

Prop 2 passage would bring none of the dire fallout that the Statesman’s Chicken-Littles predict. This is the same tired collection of scare-tactics used each time a charter amendment appears on a city ballot. What readers will never see in print, except here, is the true reason for the Statesman’s reflexive opposition to voter initiatives, like charter amendments: too much democracy means that the politicans cannot keep the taxpayers’ money flowing to their favored friends (and advertisers), the real estate lobby. Anyway, the Statesman has no credibility in opposing this measure because it is well-known that Arnold Garcia and Mayor Wynn are adept at coordination of staged media coverage and opinion pieces. Thoughtful readers should recall the mea culpa issued 29 January, 2004 by Mr. Garcia, soft-soaping his egregious ethical lapse when he conspired with Mayor Wynn to publish certain content at times advantageous to the mayor’s personal agenda.
